BIRMINGHAM, AL – (March 29, 2023) Final results of the Birmingham City Junior Amateur held at Highland Park Golf Course in Birmingham, Alabama, March 28-29, 2023.

Within the Boys 14-18 Age Division, Jake Monk of Hoover, AL and Murray Walker of Loxley, AL were in close competition through both days of the tournament. Both players carded a 69 for Round 1 and a 72 for Round 2 to finish with a 141 total for the tournament. 
 
After a scorecard playoff, Monk claimed victory within the Boys 14-18 Age Division. He made birdie nine times during the tournament. Walker stands in second place. Jake Norris of Vestavia Hills, AL secured bronze within the Boys 14-18 Age Division with a total 147 for the tournament.
 
Elizabeth Haughery of Vestavia Hills, AL earned gold within the Girls 14-18 Age Division with a total score of 158. Although she was the sole player within her division, Haughery put forth impressive play to earn the champion title; she played a steady final round, earning birdie on the par-three Hole 13 and making par on a total of eleven holes for a final round score of 79.
 
William Ness of Hoover, AL claimed first within the Boys 9-11 Age Division, carding a 90 for the final round and 164 for the tournament. Ryan Thompson of Homewood, AL stands second with a total score of 190.
 
Oliver Berry of Athens, AL took home gold within the Boys 6-8 Age Division with an 18-hole gross total score of 84 (6-8 Age Divisions play a total of 18 holes, 9 each day). Berry made birdie on Hole #12 and made par on four holes during his nine-hole round today.
 
Landon Cunningham of Huntsville, AL stands second, posting a tournament total of 87. Cunningham also made par on four holes during his final round. Bear Smith of Valley Head, AL secured third with a tournament total of 112. Smith made par on Hole #17 to finish his very first golf tournament!

The 2023 JGA Tour continues with its third event of the year, the Burningtree Junior Amateur hosted by Burningtree Country Club in Decatur, AL in late May.
