Final Results of the Hoover Junior Amateur Championship

Champions within the Boys 14-18 Age Division and Girls 14-18 Age Division at the Hoover Junior Amateur, hosted by Hoover Country Club in Hoover, Alabama

HOOVER, AL – (July 20, 2023) Final results of the Hoover Junior Amateur held at Hoover Country Club in Hoover, Alabama, July 19-20, 2023.

Within the Boys 14-18 Age Division, Michael Brewer of Vestavia Hills earned gold with a 36-hole total of 146 (+2).  Rhodes Bennett of Eufaula, AL carded a total 152 (+8) for both rounds to secure second. Adam Russell of Birmingham finished the final round with a 153 total for the tournament.
 
Julie Waldo of Prattville carded a 36-hole total of 150 to secure first place within the Girls 14-18 Age Division. Elizabeth Haughery of Vestavia Hills posted a 159 to earn second; Courtney Johnson of Birmingham finished with a 170 to earn third.
 
Cooper Waldo of Prattville placed first within the Boys 12-13 Age Division, firing a four-under 140 for the tournament. Waldo was the only player to break par within all divisions, making a total of eight birdies. Ben Wetta of Vestavia Hills carded a 151 to earn silver; Ben Young of Birmingham posted a 155 to secure bronze.
 
Within the Boys 9-11 Age Division, Grady Rutledge of Huntsville earned gold with a total score of 158. Just one stroke behind, Lane Barker posted a 159 to stand second. Troy Elmore of Valley Head carded a 163 to finish third.
 
Tristan Cook of Birmingham carded an 18-hole total of 77 to finish in first place within the Boys 6-8 Age Division. James Ness of Hoover posted a 78 to earn second. Parker Perkins of Tuscaloosa earned third place with an 87.

The 2023 JGA Tour continues with its sixth event of the year, the Beach Junior Amateur hosted by GlenLakes Golf Club in Foley, AL in late August.
 
The JGA Tour is conducted by Junior Golf Alabama.
